The "Twilight" Zone

Hold your nose and join me for a literary analysis of a series that would serve mankind better as mulch in our gardens. Click HERE what it's all about...

  "Enlighten the Gentiles"

Yiddish words and phrases to amuse and confuse.
The latest entry explains a little about the expression Mazel Tov, and about a reason to use it. And you'll find the archives HERE . Read and enjoy......

The Main Characters

The Man (of the House): The love of my life. Severely addicted to books (that take up WAYYYY too much space in our house) and raw garlic. We've been married 15 years, but involved for many more. Long story....

Our Kids:
SC:  Age 14. Book addicted like both her parents. Serious, but with a nice sense of humor. Well mannered in the eyes of the world, but at home,it can be another story--she's a teenager(!)

JR: Age 10  I think of her as a Disney Princess's evil twin. All the eccentricity of both sides of the family wrapped up in a sweet little body and an adorable smile. People find her a darling. I do too, but I also find her exhausting!

The Beasts: Our 2 cats, both adopted from animal rescue. "Bart" is a big, solid black, total teddy bear of a cat. Our brown tabby queeen "Bella" is  in love with The Man, though she seems to like me too!

Me: Children's librarian by day, tired keeper of all of the above by night. When I think of my life, I think of Nicole Hollander (Sylvia)'s immortal line about things that are easier than combining a family and a career. Like swimming the Amazon covered in peanut butter....

    Want The Latest Mishegosse?

Happy ( Belated) Blogiversary To ME!

    posted Thu, 08/16/07

On August 15, 2003, it was only 105 days after King George III  The Shrub   George Bush had declared "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq

Now it's been 1568 days. Almost 4000 Americans (and thousands of Iraqui civilians) are dead and still there's no sign that it will end.

On August 15,2003, we had high hopes that the 2004 election would bring us a new, honorable President, and that we'd be rid of the current pack in 16 months.

Sadly, in 2007, we're in the same situation.

In August 2003, I had a four year old and an eight year old.

Now the four year old is eight and the eight year old is TWELVE. How did that happen? Where did my baby girls go?

I'm still here, still blogging about bad patrons and good books. The ups and downs of raising girls and tomatoes.

Still shaking my head over the hatred and ignorance I see out there, and always believing that we can and MUST do better.

Thank you to everyone who reads this blog, even occasionally. Thank you, thank you, thank you to those who comment, who sympathize when things get bad, who let me know I'm not alone out here. That makes my day!

    Happy 4th Blogiversary to me!

And may things be a helluva lot better before my 5th one comes along.

One way or another, I'll still be here.

And I hope you will too........
