Getting a library card requires identification, but we still don't ask for a picture ID. You can mail yourself a postcard or even use a piece of junk mail, so long as it carries your name and address.
So today a young man who's got a stop on his card because he owes us a long overdue book tried to get a new card by showing the circulation staff a piece of mail, and he filled out his name accordingly on the form.
The problem was, the name on the envelope was "Smart Shopper"
