First my assistant leaves, now my 15 hour a week librarian is quitting, also to take a full time job.
And for some reason, I had a feeling this was going to happen!
Both came in just last year, and now both are going to be gone.
I don't blame either of them--part time positions suck, especially the 15 hour a week one.
And truthfully, it's a little bit of a relief. Because I like them both--but somehow, I never felt entirely comfortable with them. They both had worked for another system and always seem to be comparing what we did here to there--and finding it lacking!
I have told my boss that considering the hiring freeze and the pain in the ass the 15 hour position is, I just may let him give it over to the reference staff. Because the truth is, that though it's nice to have someone to work with on programs and projects, it's hard to find anyone who really wants to work those hours that's the RIGHT sort of person.
I've been a solo act for years for the most part. And I can do it myself.
It was nice though, having weeks when I only had to do one or two programs and had a sub when I got sick.
Oh, well. Alone again....
