Mel's Not Getting Another Oscar
Poor Mel Gibson won't be going home with too many little golden statues at the Oscars--the Academy has pretty well ignored his "Passion of the Christ".
Of course the bigots and the ignoramuses will immediately begin chanting it's a Jewish conspiracy. Hey, knuckleheads--the Academy did the same thing to Michael Moore's movie!
I love idiots who talk about Jewish conspiracies anyway. There's a common joke among Jews that if you get 2 Jews in a room ,you'll get 5 different opinions. That's an underestimate if you ask me--and yes, I am Jewish, ethnically if not religiously!!
It has gotten to the point where I can no longer enjoy Mel's movies. Every time I see him smirking on some screen, I think of what a smug, ignorant bigot he is. Worse than that, he is a smug, ignorant RICH bigot, which means he has the power to spread his intolerant beliefs across the airwaves.
Please know, that I have a tremendous respect for the devout of all faiths, including Catholics. The Man's parents are Catholics in the true sense of the word--and yet somehow they don't seem to hold me responsible for the death of Jesus. Nor do they feel the need to press their beliefs upon me or their granddaughters. Indeed, when SC was born, and I told my mother in law that I couldn't bring her up to be a Catholic, but I would do my best to bring her up to be a good person, she said she had come to realize that was all that mattered. Truly someone who gets what religion is all about--doing good, not spreading hate......
My hope is that one day Mel will be embroiled in some sort of scandal. Perhaps that poor wife of his that he keeps barefoot and pregnant will turn on him and reveal all. After all--what has she got to lose? According to this article, Mel says she's going to hell anyway. Or perhaps one of his 7 children will reveal that their wonderful, marvelous daddy isn't quite the "father of the year" one article reports him to be.
Or best of all--he'll turn up in a sex scandal--a nice Jimmy Bakker sort of thing.
Probably not. But I can live and hope...............
