CNN has a Star Wars Quiz and I managed to score only 4 out of 10!
The reason?
Not only do I have no plans to go and see "Revenge of the Sith", I haven't even see Episode I or Episode II!
We go to the movies once every few years because we have young children and the idea of bringing a babysitter into our home (a.k.a. Chez Chaos) who is not related to us gives me the willies.
The last movies that we have seen on the big screen (not counting movies with the kids) were:
Mystery Science Theater, The Movie (pre-99 at least, because JR wasn't around then)
The Fellowship of the Ring (during Christmas visit to my parents so they could watch the kids)
The Two Towers (I was off from work with a broken foot and the Man had taken me to the doctor. We were celebrating because he'd taken the cast off and I could actually WALK enough to go to a theater!)
The "Hey Arnold" Movie (SC was off in NYC with her grandparents and JR was at my in-laws)
And don't laugh at that one. The Man is a big fan of the TV series and so am I. In fact, he's been a regular on a "Hey Arnold" board where his handle is "Sewer King"!
We didn't even see Return of the King at the movies, because we got a much larger, much better TV a year ago, and it was simpler to see it on DVD.
And I'm glad we did, because those battle scenes went on foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and I could lie on the sofa and shut my eyes when I got tired of watching men get chopped up into little pieces..........
We could get the films on Netflix. Or for that matter, my sister-in-law probably has them. In fact, the Man wanted to wait until we went to her house where we could watch them on her home theater TV. But somehow, whenever we're out there, we've never done it.
Probably because the rugrats are usually ensconsed in front of the tube watching on of those movies "Auntie Rosie" has that are strictly taboo in our house. Like Pocohontas.......
The irony of it all is that we are big science fiction fans. I mean, we MET at a "Star Trek" club in high school. Our first "date" was to see Alien!
And back in 1977 the Man and his brothers were some of the first on line to see Star Wars in New York City. I saw it twice, once with my parents and then with my brother. It was more my cup of tea than his, so I was happy to have the excuse to see it again.
I suppose, eventually, we'll see Episodes I-III. Sometime in our copious free time.
Let's see now. JR will be in college in 12 years..........................................
