I love Charlotte's Web , but kids should also meet Louis the mute swan who gains a voice and a love. And if you liked Make Way For Ducklings (another favorite of mine) you'll recognize one of the settings......
The Wind in the Willows

Not a young child's book at all,but a beautifully written book about friendship, greed, self centeredness and love.
The best illustrations are by Ernest Shepherd. He was also the first (and only REAL!) illustrator of Winnie the Pooh!

Having had many, many, many years of experience dealing with all my other stubborn relatives....
(And I know several people who know me and are reading this blog are hooting at the idea, but I'm the most reasonable one in the entire bunch!)
.......I left her her towel, her robe and ignored her.
Fourty or so minutes later, she came down, ate her dinner, and was a sweet, well behaved kid for the rest of the night.
The only one who got gypped out of anything was her--she lost a LOT of TV time.
I doubt if it'll teach her anything, but I can dream, can't I?
The tween years are really a blast. I just can't wait for the teen years.
