I was getting my girls ready for school this AM and telling them about how girls weren't allowed to wear pants when I first went to school. (We used to have to wear pants under our dresses in cold weather and taken them off at school) And that jeans weren't worn by adults (except hippies and farmers), and that kids mainly wore sneakers for gym and outdoor play!
Their grandma NEVER left the house without lipstick on, and she usually wore dresses and shoes with heels. And her "pocketbook"!
And off we went to school--JR looking much as I would have in the 60s in a jumper, black Mary Janes and anklets, SC in shorts,a t-shirt and sneakers, and me in my working clothes: black jeans, a short sleeve top and high top Reebok sneakers! Times have really changed......
But Grandma STILL carries a "pocketbook"--though usually we call it a "purse" now--and never leaves the house without her lipstick, though nowadays she's more likely to be wearing casual pants and sneakers!!!!
