When I moved into the branch libary I now work in, I brought all the stuffed toys, decorations, etc we had had in the children's room at the old (closed)branch.
The previous librarian here didn't HAVE decorations or toys--they might have made the place look child friendly and welcoming. Add a good deal of eye rolling here..........
Anyway, a lady came in and asked us if we'd like more stuffed animals, and we said yes.
She ended up being a stuffed animal collector who brought so many toys that we now have too many, and I have disappeared or stored some. They do make the room messy, but people love how they look!
Our favorite toy of all the ones that she brought us is a stuffed penguin. Not just any stuffed penguin, but a 3 foot high, Emperor penguin.
He has become one of the stars of the children's room, to the point where a librarian from another department actually got him a library I.D. under the name "Chilly Willy". But I call him King George, in honor of said librarian.
King George is now part of our book display area and changes his outfit with the seasons. It's a shame that more people don't get to see him, so therefore, here is King George in all his Easter glory:

Tune in next month for another installment!
