There are a lot of people out there "Blogging For Terri" and I wish they would use the emotional energies they are devoting to this to making living wills commonplace. There are a lot more Terris out there with loving families that are having to make these sort of agonizizng life and death decisions every day!
If the bloggers did this, than Terri's life would serve a purpose far nobler than the politicial interests of special interest groups. In her tragedy, there could be a lot less pain for a lot of other people. I think that's the sort of memorial most of us would want for ourselves.
As it stands, there is nothing but self righteousness, political posturing and tragedy for all concerned. Not to mention a dangerous precedent in terms of our government legislating on the most personal of matters!
Meanwhile, I suggest that all the doctors on Capitol Hill currently giving their "medical" opinions on the case just from having looked at a video be issued webcams, so that they can provide more of this sort of informed healthcare for the thousands of their constituents who currently have no such services. And hey, if they're all suddenly such specialists on matters neurological, I'm sure they can handle anything that comes their way. And with that pesky little problem solved, Congress can return to the business of dealing with more vital world matters. Like steroids in baseball.......
