The Cast Of Characters

The Man (of the House): The love of my life. Severely addicted to books (that take up WAYYYY too much space in our house) and raw garlic. We've been married 13 years, but involved for many more. Long story....

Our Kids:
SC:  Age 13. Book addicted like both her parents. Serious, but with a nice sense of humor. Well mannered in the eyes of the world, but at home,it can be another story(!)

JR: Age 9  I think of her as a Disney Princess's evil twin. All the eccentricity of both sides of the family wrapped up in a sweet little body and an adorable smile. People find her a darling. I do too, but I also find her exhausting!

The Beasts: Our 2 cats, both adopted from animal rescue. "Bart" is a big, solid black, total teddy bear of a cat. Our brown tabby queeen "Bella" is  in love with The Man, though she seems to like me too!

Me: Children's librarian by day, tired keeper of all of the above by night. When I think of my life, I think of Nicole Hollander (Sylvia)'s immortal line about things that are easier than combining a family and a career. Like swimming the Amazon covered in peanut butter....

Want The Latest Mishegosse?

One More Thing I' m Thankful For--Thank You, Franco!

posted Mon, 11/28/05

If you are new to this blog, you will not know that the nice looking blog header is a recent thing!

It was designed by Franco, who is offering FREE logos at his blogsite.

(He does have a Paypal button however, and I did give him a cut of my recent earnings on Ebay. He deserved it!)

You can click here:  to get to his free logo site.

Franco will make a logo for your blog based on whatever you request. He will do a caricature of you, a design, or whatever else you choose.

I did NOT tell him what I looked like, but he may have extrapolated from the pictures of the girls, because there is a SLIGHT resemblance to me in the picture. My hair is much curlier and messier and I am unfortunately a lot less slender than the model. Of course, I also look a bit less cranky--most of the time!

I DID show this to the Man, who wanted to know if I'd said anything about my nose--my least loved feature. The one here looks more like Wanda in "Baby Blues"--mine isn't THAT long.

However, my feet are. The Man thinks Franco got that part JUST right!

Seriously, Franco is doing something wonderful--providing something that is usually very expensive to bloggers and doing it for FREE.  So before you make a request, plan out what you want as much as you can and be sure to give him as much information as possible. He was kind enough to readjust my logo several times to get something I'm delighted to display,  but the easier you make it for him, the better.

Thanks again, Franco. I really am thankful for my new logo!
