How twitty is this teacher?
She is so busy coming up with "patterns" she doesn't seem to notice that we are trying so hard to do the patterns that we are unable to concentrate on doing the STEPS.
Hello, lady?
This is a BEGINNER's class and we should be learning how to do a tendu correctly, not trying to do three to the front, one to the side and then 3 more to the side! And are we going to the front and back, and which comes first?
It doesn't match the music and it FEELS jerky.
And it looks it, too!
Last night, I got totally befuddled and she tried to "show me" and I just smiled and said "no" and stopped till the "pattern" was done.
The frappe (which by the way is a pretty advanced step) was even worse. I was so busy trying to figure which way to go, I wasn't doing the frappe itself correctly!
The only thing she managed not to overcomplicate was ronde de jambe. I know she saw how correctly I was doing THAT--my turn out was as good as I can get it!
And the music she used for floor work was too fast to get the steps right. She thinks she's still teaching jazz class!!
Oh, well, all I can do is keep going and giggle a bit. At least I've got lots of good stories for my friend the REAL ballet teacher, and for this blog.....
