Dear Security Idiots,
Will you please decide whether or not you are going to allow people to view fireworks at the Pentagon?
If you are, what is the point of roping off miles of the parking lot and forcing people to walk miles to get back to the areas where you can see something?
And if not, why don't you shut down the place and publicly announce it?
My daughters and I were frustrated with hell and wound up leaving.
On the bright side, at least we weren't standing out in the rain a mile from our car when it started raining. Which it did right around the same time as the fireworks began. And the ice cream we bought ourselves on the way home was yummy.
Look, I know it's not your problem if thousands of idiots are parked all over Route 110 and even on the shoulder of I395. That's the state troopers or the Arlington police, or SOMEONE else's problem. I know you're happy to keep it that way, and not have them on your grounds.
But if you're going to all the trouble of controlling access to the Pentagon on the Fourth make up your minds and decide--is it going to be open or isn't it ?
Simpler for you, and simpler for the rest of us.
Sincerely yours,
Your Neighbor, the Library Lady
